Demand for sustainable energy has been rising ever since the industrial revolution and keeping the environmental pollution caused by the fossil fuels in mind, successful strategy for green energy resources is one of the thrust areas of research today. Photocatalyst is considered as one of the key materials, which can offer clean technology for energy harvesting. Here we have incorporated titanium(IV) in AlPO4 framework for the synthesis of TAPO-25 and the material has been characterized thoroughly by PXRD, BET surface area analysis, XPS and UV–vis spectroscopy and compared with Ti(IV)-free AlPO-25. TAPO-25 has been employed as photoanode for photoelectrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in the oxidation of alkaline water and the observed photocurrent density was 0.043 mA/cm2.
