Breaking down disciplinary and cultural barriers to lead global research

Materials science, including research into polymers, metals, ceramics and the development of next generation semiconductor devices is one of the major strong points of Tokyo Tech. The Materials and Devices Research Hub Group is a platform for international collaborative research on materials science. We envisage that this research hub will facilitate world-leading research on broad range of advanced materials. Among these are structural materials, including shape memory alloys, super hard materials and ceramic-fiber-reinforced composites; electronic materials and devices such as transparent conductors, quantum information devices and flexible sensors; and chemical materials such as catalysts, biomolecules and molecular assemblies. The investigation of these materials promises to cross disciplinary and cultural boundaries to enhance the cutting edge research at Tokyo Tech.
