Sustainable technologies for pottery making
<Aim>
My research investigates practices to reduce the environmental impact of handmade ceramic production. The focus is on improving methods currently employed in art schools, artisanal workshops and studios, by documenting and disseminating best practice examples developed by artists, artisans, education institutions and the ceramic industry. Collaborations and conversations with artists, makers, scientists and engineers will offer a synergic environment for theoretical reflection, as well as material and procedural innovation. Findings will have applications in the teaching of craft and technology, and the making of pottery. The study will also inform reflections on transdisciplinary research methodologies.
