Biography

Asa Ito obtained her PhD in Literature at University of Tokyo in 2010. She joined Tokyo Institute of Technology as an Associate Professor in 2013. While woking for Tokyo Tech, she stayed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Visiting Scholar in 2019.

Asa Ito's research specialty is in aesthetics with a particular focus on the aesthetic experiences of people with disability. She has published 4 books on blind people and 1 on people who stutter. She was awarded WIRED Audi Innovation Award in 2017 and Akiko Ikeda Award in 2020.
