Biography

Hisakazu Mihara received his Doctor of Science degree in chemistry from Kyushu University under the direction of N. Izumiya in 1986. He was a postdoctoral fellow in E. T. Kaiser’s group at the Rockefeller University, New York (1986-1988). He was appointed as an assistant professor in applied chemistry at Kyushu Institute of Technology in 1988 and was promoted to an associate professor in applied chemistry at Nagasaki University in 1993 and in bioengineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1995. He was a professor in Department of Bioengineering, Graduate School of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Tokyo Institute of Technology (2005-2015). Currently, he is a professor and dean of School of Life Science and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology (2016-2020). His research interests include peptide design and synthesis, de novo design of functional peptides including self-assembling peptides for biomaterials and peptide biochips, and peptide-phage display technology for drug design and peptide probes.
