Biography
Masaaki Matsuda obtained his B.E. (1987), M.E. (1989), and Ph. D. (1992) degrees from Tohoku University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at JSPS (1992–1993), a researcher at RIKEN (1993– 2000), a researcher (2000–2002), a senior researcher (2002–2006), and a principal researcher (2006– 2010) at Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute/ Japan Atomic Energy Agency. Since 2010 he has been a senior research staff at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He has worked on magnetism in strongly correlated electron systems, such as high-Tc cuprates, quantum spin systems and frustrated magnets, using neutron scattering technique.
Expectations for WRHI
ORNL's neutron scattering facilities (SNS/HFIR) have the world-leading neutron scattering instruments. Collaborative research with material scientists at Tokyo Institute of Technology will promote the fulfillment of excellent science and bring great benefits to both academic institutions. Research at WRHI will enable the collaboration to be carried out efficiently.
