略歴

Alain Barrat obtained his PhD in theoretical physics at the university of Paris VI (France) in 1996. The subject of his thesis was the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of spin glasses. He then spent two years at the Abdus Salam ICTP in Trieste, Italy, as a postdoctoral fellow. In 1998, he entered the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) of France with a permanent position as junior researcher. He spent 10 years at the Laboratoire de Physique Théorique at the University of Paris-Sud. He is currently CNRS senior researcher at the Centre de Physique Théorique in Marseille, of which he is also deputy director. He is also research scientist at the Institute for Scientific Interchange in Turin, Italy, vice-president of the Complex Systems Society, and board member of the NetSci Society.
His research focuses on complex networks and temporal networks, with many interdisciplinary connections and collaborations.

WRHIへの期待

WRHI hosts research at the forefront of network science, as well as in computational social science and neuroscience. My own research concerns temporal networks, in particular processes occurring on temporal networks such as contagion processes, and also more recently the field of network neuroscience where temporal network methods are starting to be developed. I expect a strong synergy between my own expertise and the WRHI's researchers expertise, leading to the development of new methods and tools in the field of temporal networks.
